How Many Devices Can Use Netflix Simultaneously?

Netflix lets you install its app on unlimited devices, but the number of simultaneous streams and downloads depends strictly on your subscription plan. Here's the latest breakdown, including Netflix’s enforcement of household sharing rules, extra member pricing, and offline download limits.

Netflix Plans: Streaming and Download Limits

Note: The Basic and Mobile plans have been phased out in many regions, including the US. Besides the mobile plans, you can stream Netflix on smartphones, tablets, computers and TVs.

Can You Use Netflix on Unlimited Devices?

Yes, you can sign in to as many devices as you want. But only the allowed number (based on your plan) can stream or download content at the same time. If too many people try to stream at once, you'll see an error like:

"Your account is in use on too many devices."

To resolve this, you’ll need to:

  • Stop streaming on one device
  • Remove unused devices from your account
  • Or upgrade your plan for more streams

How to Manage Devices on Your Netflix Account

Netflix gives you full visibility into which devices are using your account:

  1. Go to Netflix.com > Account
  2. Select Manage Access and Devices
  3. From here, you can view active devices and sign out remotely

If you suspect unauthorized access, it’s smart to change your password and remove all devices.

New Rules for Account Sharing

Netflix has cracked down on password sharing across households. Your account is meant for people living in the same physical household and accessing Netflix from the same location.

If you want to share Netflix with someone outside your home, you can now add extra members:

  • Standard Plan: Add 1 extra member for $7.99/month
  • Premium Plan: Add up to 2 extra members for $7.99/month each

These members get their own login credentials but must live in the same country as the primary account holder.

Netflix confirms device locations periodically, so shared logins outside your household may be blocked if not properly added.

Netflix Download Limits

Offline viewing is ideal when traveling or saving data, but there are limits:

  • Standard with Ads: 15 downloads per month, on up to 2 devices
  • Standard: Up to 100 titles per device, on 2 devices
  • Premium: Up to 100 titles per device, on 6 devices

Downloaded titles typically expire after 30 days, or 48 hours after you begin watching. If a title is no longer available on Netflix, your download may expire even sooner.

To check and manage download devices:

  1. Go to Netflix.com > Account
  2. Select Manage Download Devices
  3. Remove any device to free up a slot
